TWO OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP WITH IMPORTANT LAND and RIVER CLEANUP EFFORTS

April 16th, 2012 :: Posted by Jamie Smith :: Comments (0) :: Leave Comment
Between illegal dumping and our September floods, our beautiful NEPA land and Susquehanna River need our help.  Trash and debris are everywhere.  Please volunteer a few hours and help in one or both of the following clean-up projects. Please forward this post/information to anyone or organization you think might be willing to help out.
The first cleanup project is the Hanover Crossings Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary owned by North Branch Land Trust and will be held Friday, April 20th 9:00am-1:00pm.  This tract of land has been used for years as an illegal dump site.  These pictures tell the story of how irresponsible people can spoil a beautiful landscape:

North Branch Land Trust is partnering with the Pennsylvania Environmental Council to conduct this much needed cleanup project.  Employees from various industries in the Hanover Crossings Industrial Park and students from Hanover Area High School will be helping.  As NBLT supporters, if you can spare a few hours please come out and join in the effort.  We would very much appreciate your time and energy. Following is the flyer with all the information about the project:

Due to unforeseen weather related circumstances in and around the Wilkes-Barre area, we are forced to reschedule the September 17th Meeting of the Art Waters photography opening reception.  Please check back for a revised schedule.

We sincerely hope our friends, loved ones, and neighbors in the surrounding areas hardest hit by the flood waters are safe and able to get back to their homes soon.  Fingers crossed that the levy system will continue to hold.
