

Ashok is a self-taught editorial photographer based in New York. He has worked in more than thirty countries on various commercial and editorial assignments. Using the subject as a framework, he explores its surroundings to give the viewer a sense of place at an experiential level. This artistic process has inspired him to create a number of fine art series in addition to his commercial work.
Ashok’s work has appeared in magazines and electronic publications: National Geographic, Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel Magazine, Reader’s Digest, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Financial Times, LIFE.com, Popular Photography Magazine, Planet Magazine. He has won awards from Photo District News, Lucie Foundation, Association of Photographers UK, World Photographic Arts, and the BBC.
Ashok has exhibited at the Mixed Greens Gallery (New York), Umbrella Arts Gallery (New York), Art for Change Gallery (New York), Association of Photographers Gallery (London) and New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery (New Orleans).
His work is owned privately around the world and in the permanent collection at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado. His commercial works are licensed worldwide by Getty Images.
Ashok earned a Masters degree in science from Columbia University and a Masters of Business Administration from New York University Stern School of Business. He spent a decade as an entrepreneur followed by a career in corporate America before moving in to photography. He is a first generation immigrant from Kolkata, India, currently based in New York City.
