Opening April 28th, 2012
T.W. Shoemaker Art Gallery – 312 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, PA 18644
Meeting of the Art Waters is a photography exhibit of 35 images by seven international photographers, that will take place from Saturday, April 28th thru June 30th, 2012 in Wyoming, Pennsylvania.
New York City photographers Jamie Smith, Geoff Green, and Ashok Sinha formed the idea to co-produce the exhibit while sitting around a bonfire on the banks of the Susquehanna River at Jamie’s family homestead in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The exhibit is divided into five categories – animals, landscapes, people, hometowns, and travel. The artists broadly interpreted each category based on their own point of view and life experience. The exhibition is therefore comprised of horizontal and vertical formats, close up and expansive perspectives, and color and black and white images from around the world.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. An opening reception (4:00-8:00pm on Saturday, April 28th, 2012) will kick things off and the show will benefit two local groups, The North Branch Land Trust and Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge. A sixty page catalog is available from the website and Meeting of the Art Waters will donate 10% of the proceeds from any print sales to these two local charitable organizations.
Those involved in Meeting of the Art Waters believe that Art can spark conversations, and introduce new ideas. It is their hope that this exhibition will resonate with those who view it, and provide creative ways to connect to the community.
